Nope, he didn't have a tail. Hubby got him before hubby got me ;) so I'm not sure if hubby docked it, or if it "came" that way! I know he prefers dogs to not have tails, less chances of them getting slammed in truck doors, etc...but we don't dock the border collie's tails...they wouldn't look right!

Aww I looked up pics of them on google and they are beautiful dogs! Except the ones I found all had tails...yours didn't? I love tail-less dogs especially when they "wag" because they really just either shake their butts or wag their little nubby tail. Bowser does that and it gets me laughing every time. Blue merle....his colouring sounds beautiful!! And I know what you mean about it smiling. Bows smiles all the time to us...but I'm sure anyone else who saw it would be more concerned with his teeth too!

They are beautiful dogs, inside and out. We really miss ours. He could communicate with us...his eyes, and he could actually smile...of course, strangers thought he was baring his teeth at them, but he was smiling and wagging his tail-less behind! Ours was a blue merle, with browns, grays and black.

Yup he is definitely a big boy! My parents have a Golden Retriever and I think he's about 90 lbs...he is a pretty big boy too, but I think his fur is really fluffy which makes him look bigger. Australian shepherds...I've never heard of those...are they like German Shepherds? I will have to google them now I'm curious!

LOL yeah I don't think I would start making Bowser his own dog food...I would rather him eat with us! He eats so much I would be in the kitchen constantly. He is well over 130 lbs though...the last time we weighed him was at the beginning of summer and he went through a major growth spurt so I am guessing at least 150 but likely more!

We can only hope it never gets so bad that we have to make our own! If that EVER happens, we are DOWN-sizing on our dog "business"!!! ;)

We've had the same things come up here in the states...isn't it crazy what people put in dog food!?! We have used Red Diamond dog food for years and years...and never have had any problems. A couple years ago some was recalled, but it was a minor deal, and not one that affected our plant personally. We have to get it at the local grain mill/elevator, but I have seen it at the farm and ranch stores in bigger cities...we even feed it to our pups. They usually start eating their mom's food when they're about weaned, and it never seems too strong for their digestion.

Oh Bows would love them! He adores other dogs, cats, any kind of animal...he's just such a big lug sometimes he doesn't realise his own strength. But with our cat he was the gentlest giant (and with Kyle!). Our neighbor has a German Shepherd/Husky cross (she's beautiful-looks like a GS but with the bluest husky eyes!) and Bowser and her visit "through the fence". They can see each other and will sit for hours by the fence separating them and play, talk. Bowser will show off for her by playing with one of his toys and acting "all manly"...LOL they are really funny. So Bowser would LOVE a little pup! I miss having a cat because it seemed to "tame" him a bit and he wasn't so rowdy...plus when I am busy with Kyle he has a little buddy to keep him commpany.

Can I ask a sorta silly question-what kind of dog food do you feed them? We have been through so many dog foods with Bowser and since they are constantly finding different things (the latest was rat poison!) in dog foods I never know which I should buy. We usually have just gone with either Ol'Roy Kibbles & Bits (because he loves those and they are cheap) or Pedigree Healthy Chicken Recipe (the first ingredient on the list is chicken so I feel better buying it)...but I like to know if other people have other insights on dog food...
