Jen, I can't imagine, except that we sorely miss my brother and his family who live across the USA from us. Here I have two sisters that live nearby (within 20 minutes) and I'm always lamenting that we don't get together often enough. It's ridiculous, really, when you live as close as we do. (Hear that, Sisters????) ;) (they sometimes read here!) I did spend today at the lake with my niece and nephew at least!

Me too, Juli. I love the ones I've got so much I do wonder who we're "missing out on" by stopping at three. I ventured into the subject with hubby last night and he still wants to be done with three. So it's up to God, I haven't given up yet. Four does seem like a nice number. ;)

I have four wonderful children, and I love that number, but if God truly gave me more, I would welcome them with a open heart. I admire the people who have do such a wonderful job of raising their children to be good people and trust in God.

Wow, Jen! That's something I would have never guessed...do you girls live near each other?

Amy, my hubby was happy with two, but when they started praying for a baby sibling, he got convicted fast! After our third was born, he was all for getting a vasectomy, but I just thought that was too drastic, after all, I was 28 and he was 32--too young to make such a decision forever! Especially since I've always admired the big-family lifestyle. He's not brought up the vasectomy option in years, and we even joke around sometimes about names for future kids, w/o getting serious. I think it's a possibility. But not for a while. And yes, I've thought wistfully about adoption, but when I mention it to dh, he doesn't feel the same way.

God knows how many children we're each supposed to have!

It makes sense that it would, Jana, an added bonus! I don't know how else a mom of many would keep track of cups! We try to keep track by using different colored cups throughout the day, so I haven't noticed a huge difference yet in using the tape method...you can bet when you come to visit I'll have a name line-up the length of the counter...probably for us parents too! Lol...

Jessica, the personalized plates/cup idea is smart! That's funny, no getting away with skimping at chore time!

So your dh balks too? I am praying and biding my time before announcing the fact that I really want another. I've seen some "softening" if you will, in him, that leads me to believe he'd be fine with at least one more.

Insightful post. Whenever DH balks at the idea of more kids, I always remind him that they won't always be 3 & 1 & it WILL get easier. No matter how many kids you have, the proper training is KEY. And hard.

And I just read somebody's blog (a mom of many) where she was sick of waking up to a disaster in the kitchen, so they made their own personalized plates & glasses. They each got one. They were supposed to wash & dry it right away after using it. If it was dirty at the next meal, too bad, they had to wash it. And she always knew who the culprit was if she found a plate out.

I wouldn't like those cups on my counter all the time. But that's just me.

<em>Jessica's last blog post..<a href='http://farmfreshiowa.blogspot.com/2008/06/oh-man.html'>Oh MAN!</a></em>

Just an added note, I think the cup system has helped little brother with names and some letter recognition as well as writing and recognizing his own name with little help from me!
