Great comments. It is a great responsibility, and I think most of us feel relieved to let the church handle it when realistically, we're the key players in our children's lives.

Really enjoying all the conversation here! I've been super busy making applesauce...hopefully will have more time to blog soon!

Amen to Mrs Minthegap! When you read the Old Testament carefully, you will see over and over again where God reminds the people that He is acting in such and such a way (sometimes blessing, sometimes cursing) 'that they might know that He is God'. That phrase or a similar one appears in Ezekiel almost 70 times. Our God wants us to have no doubts about Who He is. He is worthy of our praise; He is well worth knowing. Read and think a lot about Prov. 9:10. And then you get to the grace and mercy of the New Testament and the reality of Christ living in those who know Him by faith in His dying for our sin. The NT is full of commands which we cannot keep any more than the Israelites could keep the law, but Phil. tells us that HE IS WORKING IN US BOTH TO WILL AND TO DO OF HIS GOOD PLEASURE! I can please Him. And He works in me to make it work for me! Think about Philippians 4:6-7 in that context. It is only because He is God that I am commanded not to worry. What it would mean to our children to see us trusting Him at every point. Just telling them is not enough. Thanks, Min for your comments.

If they don't get taught the Word from us and learn right from wrong, who else can they learn from?

Sunday school can all do so much, God gave us this hefty responsibility and we must not slack in our duty to our children, their lives and souls depend on it.

<em>Leticia's last blog post..<a href='http://leticiasworld.blogspot.com/2008/09/sweet-september-blog-tour.html'>SWEET SEPTEMBER BLOG TOUR...</a></em>

We're using the BJU Press curriculum for Bible, and my wife keeps remarking about how much there is there, and how even though it's not "core" it's something that they need so much. Can you ever really get too much of God?

My wife summed up my kid's education by asking what really matters? And then answered herself by that above verse. They need to learn more about God.

God has really been speaking to me lately about teaching my children His word more. My dh doesn't choose to have much input in that respect but I find night time is great to sit on their beds with them, read stories and share my own experiences with God.
