It's amazing how a parent's love of something passes down to their children...kind of a warning to us in a way, huh! Btw, thanks for the super beautiful fall card, Bethanie! It made my day!

I just love these kinds of comments! You never know which hits to a site are spam, and which are actually real people that share the same ideals and desires out of life. Thanks so much for taking time to comment, Josh, and I hope you were able to subscribe to the blog's feed. I know you will be amazed at how close your family will grow to each other now that you are TV free. It takes discipline at first, but making a clean break isn't as hard on the kids as you'd think--as long as you can be serious about it, lol. We have much in common! Will enjoy getting to know you and your wife in the future...

thats the same with us. My mom was always reading for fun and my dad read to us a lot, so I love to read. But, my husband never did get into reading. And like your husband he is very manually oriented. We both agree, tho, that we will both read to our child.

Anne, yep, you see what I mean. ;) Reading is a much better prob to have than kids lost in video games/TV...but it's too bad reading doesn't exercise the body as much as it does the brain!

Denise, thank you so much! Your kind words made my day! Blessings!

I love your thoughtful posts. I just started reading some of them, it'll take me months maybe years to get through them all - but I really REALLY appreciate them. Your friend and sister in Christ, Denise

I agree with the moderation thing. These kids I have read so much, sometimes I just want to see their eyes and hear their voices. I know, it's a good problem to have.

Mary,

I just discovered your website while my wife and I were searching for canning recipes (which led to a variety of side-searches and then eventually to your site).

My wife and I are both Christians as well (I'm actually a pastor, too). This spring we planted a garden for the first time and are currently learning how to can food, make our own jams, cider, and bunches of other stuff---along with 9 laying hens. We got into this specifically to spend more quality time with the kids (we decided we watch way to much TV---now other than an occasional family movie night we are relatively TV free and the kids are enjoying every minute of it).

Anyway, blessings to you and we will subscribe via RSS feed to your blog.

Though we live far away from each other and talk different languages, yet we both pay the same respect to the books, and that love enabled me to remind the most precious times in my life - to sense myself in your text.
Thank you for the wonderful post, for the rehabilitation of the book.
