Thank you for sharing all this, Mom, humility is really the key. Loved the verses you mentioned too. This is a great subject for further reflection!

This is a subject very dear to my heart. You know, Jesus left heaven, humbled Himself to become in the likeness of man. He did not constantly stroke His ego with what He had left in heaven. He did not flinch when He was bad mouthed. His bottom line was that He had come to do His Father's will. That focus kept Him from self-pity and pride and all those emotions we experience as we live among people like ourselves. He knew we would be ill treated by family members, friends, acquaintences. He knew...and yet He asks us to humble ourselves. It is not my ego or self worth that is important. It is to know Him and to glory in Him. "Let him that glorieth glory in this that he knows and understands Me, that I am God". Moses reminded the Israelites at the end of the 40 years of wandering that they were to remember the humbling circumstances of those years...in the words of Deut. 8:2 "...to humble you, to test you and to know what is in your heart and whether you will keep His Word or not." Testing is a wonderful thing because it helps us get our eyes off ourselves and on Him. Testing is to humble us.

I need to humble myself, seek His face and pray...He has told me that these wrestling tests are not focused on flesh and blood but rather they come from principalities and powers of the evil one. You can't be humble if you refuse to be hurt, if you nurse a grievance, if you try to set people straight. Accept what He allows to touch your life, thank Him for loving you enough to test your faith.
