Well, we have five pups left out of the “Magnificent Seven” litter. Two sold by word of mouth (no advertisement!) before we even had them fully weaned, which helped bunches to keep the dog food flowing and also to cover all the ads we needed to place around. These are my ten year old’s puppies. Kind of a nice little hobby-income she’s had the past two years now.
Tuesday morning, in addition to rushing through math worksheets, history homework, and meal prep for a friend who recently had her fifth girl (!)…we somehow managed to bathe two of the eight-week-old pups in the kitchen sink without total chaos! They were lil dumplin’s…so good sitting there like little drowned rats in the process and like spiky half-wet owlets in the drying off aftermath! Each girl sat in front of the fireplace for a half hour afterwards making sure they were good and dry. I would have taken pics but my digital camera batteries had run down! 🙁 All this because we were taking them for show and tell at our homeschool co-op. Need I say…Very Big Hit?
The picture above is of “Frog”, an older pup, up next to one of the newer ones shortly after they were born. This one is our youngest daughter with “Frog”–her favorite. Frog’s first sound was a croak, thus the moniker, and we’ve encouraged their relationship, as Frog will be sticking around.
But as for the rest of them…wish us luck…may they sell before they eat us out of house and home!
P.S. We called this litter the “Magnificent Seven” because dh told oldest about the movie (it’s one of his favorite westerns–if you’ve seen it…yeah, I know…) and she named the two males after the two main characters in the movie: Chris and Vince.
Ahhh. Darling!
I hope we can get one of your pups someday!! Good excuse to come visit!
awww how cute! My daughter would want to take all of them home 🙂
Anything is a good excuse for a visit from you guys, Jana!
Amy, all the kids at our homeschool co-op fell in love with the two we took…I think it was the biggest hit of all the show and tells so far. Always helps to have something alive and cuddly!
Btw, I’m growling at two computer relay phone calls I’ve received in less than 6 hrs about our puppies! They’ve both been of the Western Union scam variety, which makes me insane! Will some REAL customers please step forward?
It’s especially annoying b/c I’m trying to stay off the internet and phone lines so that calls can get through!
Aww…soo sweet! I love puppies they are just cute, fat and cuddly.
Oh! It’s a good thing I don’t live near you or I’d be taking them all home…and then DH would divore me…he had a hard enough time with one dog haha! They are so cute! I love puppies!
They are, Leticia, and this batch of pups is almost past the cuddly stage! We sold another one today!!! 4 to go…
We ship to customers, Geri…lol 😉 Not sure how they’d get along with Bowser though…they might drive him crazy! The one we sold today was one of our favorites, a really low key, fuzzy classic black and white one. Dd is handling it like quite the business woman though. I think her younger sisters take it harder than she does!
Oh Bows would love them! He adores other dogs, cats, any kind of animal…he’s just such a big lug sometimes he doesn’t realise his own strength. But with our cat he was the gentlest giant (and with Kyle!). Our neighbor has a German Shepherd/Husky cross (she’s beautiful-looks like a GS but with the bluest husky eyes!) and Bowser and her visit “through the fence”. They can see each other and will sit for hours by the fence separating them and play, talk. Bowser will show off for her by playing with one of his toys and acting “all manly”…LOL they are really funny. So Bowser would LOVE a little pup! I miss having a cat because it seemed to “tame” him a bit and he wasn’t so rowdy…plus when I am busy with Kyle he has a little buddy to keep him commpany.
Can I ask a sorta silly question-what kind of dog food do you feed them? We have been through so many dog foods with Bowser and since they are constantly finding different things (the latest was rat poison!) in dog foods I never know which I should buy. We usually have just gone with either Ol’Roy Kibbles & Bits (because he loves those and they are cheap) or Pedigree Healthy Chicken Recipe (the first ingredient on the list is chicken so I feel better buying it)…but I like to know if other people have other insights on dog food…
We’ve had the same things come up here in the states…isn’t it crazy what people put in dog food!?! We have used Red Diamond dog food for years and years…and never have had any problems. A couple years ago some was recalled, but it was a minor deal, and not one that affected our plant personally. We have to get it at the local grain mill/elevator, but I have seen it at the farm and ranch stores in bigger cities…we even feed it to our pups. They usually start eating their mom’s food when they’re about weaned, and it never seems too strong for their digestion.
Thanks! I will have to see if I can find that here.
We can only hope it never gets so bad that we have to make our own! If that EVER happens, we are DOWN-sizing on our dog “business”!!! 😉
LOL yeah I don’t think I would start making Bowser his own dog food…I would rather him eat with us! He eats so much I would be in the kitchen constantly. He is well over 130 lbs though…the last time we weighed him was at the beginning of summer and he went through a major growth spurt so I am guessing at least 150 but likely more!
Wow! That is a huge rotweiler! Our border collies are pretty slim and sleek…we have had Australian Shepherds in the past, and they get pretty big sometimes!
Yup he is definitely a big boy! My parents have a Golden Retriever and I think he’s about 90 lbs…he is a pretty big boy too, but I think his fur is really fluffy which makes him look bigger. Australian shepherds…I’ve never heard of those…are they like German Shepherds? I will have to google them now I’m curious!
They are beautiful dogs, inside and out. We really miss ours. He could communicate with us…his eyes, and he could actually smile…of course, strangers thought he was baring his teeth at them, but he was smiling and wagging his tail-less behind! Ours was a blue merle, with browns, grays and black.
Aww I looked up pics of them on google and they are beautiful dogs! Except the ones I found all had tails…yours didn’t? I love tail-less dogs especially when they “wag” because they really just either shake their butts or wag their little nubby tail. Bowser does that and it gets me laughing every time. Blue merle….his colouring sounds beautiful!! And I know what you mean about it smiling. Bows smiles all the time to us…but I’m sure anyone else who saw it would be more concerned with his teeth too!
Nope, he didn’t have a tail. Hubby got him before hubby got me 😉 so I’m not sure if hubby docked it, or if it “came” that way! I know he prefers dogs to not have tails, less chances of them getting slammed in truck doors, etc…but we don’t dock the border collie’s tails…they wouldn’t look right!
